At Montgomery Creek Ranch (MCR), adopting and caring for wild horses is just the beginning. We go the extra mile to prepare our horses for adoption by investing hundreds of training hours, essential care, and resources to ensure they have their best chance at a safe and fulfilling life.

Cost Breakdown for a Trained Horse at MCR

• Initial Adoption Fee Paid by MCR: $25 BLM sale authority or $125 BLM adoption fee. Horses rescued from auctions/kill pens cost an average of $600–$800.

• Cost of Shipping a Horse to MCR: $100–$1,500+ depending on the horse's location.

• Boarding and Training Fees: $500 per month to board and train each horse at our facility.

• Trimming, Worming, and Vaccinations: $300 per year per horse.

• Veterinary Costs: Anywhere from a few dollars to thousands, depending on the horse's needs.

Average Cost to MCR for One Year of Care and Training: $6,675 per horse.

Each horse adopted from MCR not only finds a forever home but also creates space for us to rescue and care for another horse in need.
