Nellie
Meet Nellie
Sorrel Mare, 14.2 H, DOB: 2021
Nellie was rescued as a youngster from a dire kill pen in the Midwest, just days before she and her companion, a young red roan BLM-branded filly, were slated for slaughter. Though we knew Nellie was not a mustang at the time of her rescue, her need for a safe haven was just as urgent. Tragically, it was later revealed that her companion had been adopted through the controversial Adoption Incentive Program (AIP) and then dumped at auction, highlighting a significant issue with the program.
Nellie is a sweet-natured filly with a gentle disposition. She has successfully completed all of her pre-riding groundwork, including saddling, long-lining, and trail walks alone. We are allowing her time to grow and mature before beginning her ridden work. Standing a little over 14 hands, Nellie is best suited for a smaller rider or would make an excellent children's horse in the future.
